New Tennessee Titans running back DeMarco Murray has worn No. 29 since entering the NFL out of Oklahoma back in 2011. Incumbent Titans cornerback Perrish Cox has worn No. 29 for... one season. He previously wore No. 2 in high school, No. 16 at Oklahoma State, No. 32 with the Broncos, No. 20 with the 49ers, and No. 30 with the Seahawks.

So upon arriving with Tennessee, Murray approached Cox to get his favorite number back. One might've thought it'd be a little complicated given that Cox is a former Oklahoma State Cowboy and Murray is a former Oklahoma Sooner, but apparently they were friendly rivals.

“Man, we have been buddies since we came out of high school,’’ Cox said, per the Titans' official web site. “We played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl game coming out, and that’s when we first met each other. I went on a visit to OU, and we kind of talked about playing together before I went to Oklahoma State."

Typically, when NFL players take a number from a player who already has it, they do so for a price. Clinton Portis once paid $40,000 for No. 26. Darrelle Revis paid $50,000 for No. 24. Deion Sanders gave up a BMW for No. 21. Eli Manning bought Jeff Feagles a family vacation for No. 10. Plaxico Burress swindled Feagles out of No. 17 by promising to pay for a new kitchen and then never doing it.

What did Cox get for No. 29? “I won’t get into the details. We talked about it, and it was about a five-minute conversation,’’ Cox said. “I’m glad we worked it out. It’s always been his number, and he is going to be a good teammate. As long as he can make that No. 29 look good, it’s all good with me.”

So, it's a secret. Here's hoping Cox got a better deal than Feagles got from Plax.
