Rams reportedly working to extend coach Jeff Fisher and GM Les Snead
The L.A. team is apparently trying to lock down its coach and GM
The Los Angeles Rams are apparently quite excited about the short- and long-term future of the franchise, because according to a report they're looking to extend the contracts of both coach Jeff Fisher and general manager Les Snead.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the Rams are in the process of doing just that, and looking to finalize the contracts with the two before the beginning of the season.
Rams trying and expecting to extend contracts of HC Jeff Fisher and GM Les Snead before regular season starts, per sources. Deals likely.

To be perfectly frank, it's hard to imagine how this doesn't happen if the Rams are indeed earnestly engaging Fisher and Snead in contract talks.
There is an argument for both of them having done an excellent job shepherding the franchise to Los Angeles and there is an argument about rewarding them for an impressive job of personnel acquisition.
But the Rams haven't won more than seven games in a single season under Fisher. In fact, they've only won less than seven games once (going 6-10 in 2014) since taking over.
Reminder: Jeff Fisher is 10 losses away from having the most losses of any head coach in NFL history...

It's worth noting the Rams were a complete disaster before Fisher and Snead took over, winning a total of six games in the three years before they got there. St. Louis was saddled with very little talent and very large contracts from the previous collective bargaining agreement.
They also just selected a rookie quarterback No. 1 overall in Jared Goff. Rookie quarterbacks taken with a high pick very frequently buy a coach or GM an extra couple of years, in order to develop them. It's entirely possible a collection of these facts pertaining to the Rams are the reason for handing Fisher and Snead more money and years to try and turn things around.
