Report: Ravens LT Eugene Monroe entrenched as starter
by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com

Ravens left tackle Eugene Monroe is set as the starter this season, according to the Baltimore Sun, which is reporting that there will be no open competition at that spot despite the emergence of James Hurst.

Hurst excelled as an undrafted free agent last year while Monroe proved inconsistent after signing a hefty free-agent deal. He also dealt with injuries that forced him to miss five games.

Ravens' Eugene Monroe questionable to play on Saturday
by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com

Ravens offensive lineman Eugene Monroe is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Patriots.

Monroe is dealing with an ankle injury. He sat out of last weekend's playoff game against the Steelers.

The team will have Owen Daniels, Timmy Jernigan, Daryl Smith and Terrell Suggs. All four players were listed as probable on the injury report. Jernigan is dealing with foot and ankle injuries. Daniels and Suggs are on the injury report, but their absence from practice was not injury related.

Ravens starting left tackle Eugene Monroe, who missed the final two regular-season games with an ankle injury, practiced on a limited basis Wednesday for the second straight day. He's on track to suit up Saturday at New England.

Monroe called Wednesday's more extensive workout "a major step."

Without Monroe, Baltimore lost 25-13 at Houston in Week 16 and trailed 10-3 at home against Cleveland in the regular-season finale before rallying with 17 fourth-quarter points.

Baltimore is a 7-point underdog in the divisional playoff game.
