Report: Saints keep safety Jamarca Sanford for another year

The Saints have re-signed safety Jamarca Sanford to a one-year deal on Friday, according to hi agent Drew Rosenhaus, per Pro Football Talk. Sanford was due to become a free agent on Tuesday before New Orleans locked him down. Details of the contract were not made public at the time.

Sanford, 29, registered 10 tackles in New Orleans' season finale against Tampa Bay last season. He finished the year with 16 tackles and two stuffs between the Redskins and Saints last year. He has one sack and two interceptions over his six-year NFL career.

Saints' Terron Armstead out for regular season finale against Bucs

Saints tackle Terron Armstead will miss Week 17 against the Buccaneers with a neck injury. It will be Armstead's second straight game out with the injury.

Defensive tackle John Jenkins is listed as questionable with an abdomen injury and did not practice Friday.

Safety Jamarca Sanford (hamstring) and tackle Zach Strief (neck) are both listed as probable for the game.

The Saints are currently 4-point favorites against the Bucs.

Report: Desperate Saints benching S Kenny Vaccaro

The reeling Saints are benching 2013 first-round pick Kenny Vaccaro, reports NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Rapoport called the news "incredible," noting the safety has earned several game balls.

Vaccaro has played in every game this season, getting 66 tackles, two interceptions and a sack. Jamarca Sanford is his backup.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune chimed in that Vaccaro hasn't been playing well but called his benching "a huge surprise."
