The Seahawks released wide receiver Sidney Rice and defensive end Red Bryant on Friday in order to clear up some salary cap space.

The two moves will save the Seahawks $12.8 million ($7.3 million with Rice and $5.5 million with Bryant).

Rice suffered a torn ACL in 2013 and was limited to just eight games, catching 15 passes for 231 yards and three scores. Bryant, who turns 30 in April, had 31 tackles and 1.5 sacks in 15 games last season.

D-line shuffle coming for the Seahawks?
by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer

Seattle's defensive line could look a little different in 2014. USA Today has the scoop on the Seahawks' cap situation and notes that linemen Red Bryant and Chris Clemons are both candidates for a restructured salary, if not a release.

Bryant is due a $3 million roster bonus along with a $4.5 million base salary. His total cap number is $8.5 million. Clemons, 32, is due to make $7.5 million in 2014 with a $9.7 million cap number.

If the team wants to re-sign Michael Bennett and Tony McDaniel, two free agents, they'd be wise to find cap space for them.
