LOOK: Jon Hamm and his gross old Blues hat made it to St. Louis for Game 5
The St. Louis native was in town to cheer on his favorite hockey team
The last time the St. Louis Blues played in the Western Conference finals, one of their most famous fans wasn't all that famous yet. A young St. Louis native by the name of Jon Hamm only had a few television and movie credits to his name such as "Gorgeous Guy at Bar" in Ally McBeal and "Young Pilot #2" in Space Cowboys back in 2001.
Fast forward 15 years and Hamm is now one of the most sought after leading men in Hollywood thanks to his star turn as Don Draper in Mad Men. Meanwhile, his favorite hockey team is just two wins away from reaching the first Stanley Cup Final of Hamm's lifetime (he was born a year after the Blues' last trip to the final series).
Though he was a baseball player growing up, he grew to love the Blues and has been hanging on to his beloved Blues hat for many years. It is very... um... weathered. Hamm returned to his hometown, with that mangy lid firmly affixed to his head, to cheer on his favorite hockey team in one of the biggest games of his lifetime. The Blues are currently deadlocked with the San Jose Sharks 2-2 in the Western Conference finals.
He met up with Blues great and current team ambassador Brett Hull before the game and the two posed for a very St. Louis selfie.

Hamm's also quite fond of that Blues scarf despite the fact that it's late May.
And about that hat, hat's the significance? In a 2009 promotional video for the Blues, Hamm explained his love for the team and his commitment to the cap.
The actor recently shared a story that he had actually been to one of the previous playoff series between the Sharks and Blues. It was during that run in the 2001 season when the Blues made it to the Western Conference finals before falling short of reaching the Cup Final. He made the trek to San Jose for a few games while filming one of his early movies.
"I was shooting [the film] 'We Were Soldiers' in the middle of nowhere in central California, about a two-, two-and-a-half-hour drive from San Jose," Hamm said. "I bought tickets on eBay and drove up. I bought four tickets but I couldn't find anyone on the movie who wanted to go, so I sold the other three back to the San Jose fans I bought them off of and watched the game with them. I told them if the Blues won, I would buy them beers. I bought them beers."
The Sharks won that series 4-2.
Hamm also shared with NHL.com that he likes to keep his filming schedule clear this time of year to focus on hockey. The Blues finally helped fill these months with actual hockey to watch, which was nice.
Perhaps the famous fan and his famously gross hat bring the Blues a little more good luck in Game 5.
