  • Islanders' Jason Chimera: Heads to New York

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(7/1/16) Chimera agreed to a two-year deal with the Islanders on Friday.

Chimera will be entering his 16th season in the league after most recently spending seven years with the Capitals. The 37-year-old played in at least 77 games in six of those past seven seasons and will provide reliable depth on the wings for New York.

Capitals' Jason Chimera: Scores unlikeliest of game-winning goals Saturday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/17/16) Chimera scored a very odd game-winning goal in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Flyers.

Chimera redirected a clearing attempt from center ice that miraculously found it's way past Flyers goaltender Steve Mason in the second period. The surreal nature of the play notwithstanding, the 36-year-old winger's tally turned out to be the game-winner as the Capitals now have a 2-0 lead as the series moves to Philadelphia on Monday.

Capitals' Jason Chimera: Finishes 2015-16 with 40 points

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(4/14/16) Chimera recorded 20 goals and 40 points in 82 games in the 2015-16 regular season.

The elder statesman of the Capitals, Chimera bounced back from a disappointing 2014-15 campaign to record the second-best season of his career. The speedy winger continues to defy expectations for a 36-year-old, third-line winger as his enters the twilight years of his career. It's unclear how much longer he can continue to produce at this level, but those in deeper leagues may want to keep him on their radar in the late-rounds of next season's draft.

Capitals' Jason Chimera: Has points in consecutive games

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/23/16) Chimera posted an assist in Tuesday's 4-2 win over Ottawa.

After breaking out of a nine-game point drought, the elder statesman of the Capitals has a goal and three points in his last four games and is playing well alongside Marcus Johansson and Jay Beagle on the third line. Garnering some power-play time on the second unit, Chimera has bounced back nicely from a disappointing 2014-15 campaign and provides plenty of value in deeper leagues.

Capitals' Jason Chimera: Breaks nine-game pointless streak with assist

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(3/15/16) Chimera ended a nine-game pointless streak when he assisted on a Justin Williams goal during Tuesday's 2-1 overtime win against Carolina.

It's been a rough couple of games for the veteran winger, but he put together a good game Tuesday. Aside from dishing out the helper, he took two shots and finished plus-1. Despite the recent slump, it's been a solid season for Chimera, who has a secure role on Washington's third line. The 36-year-old has 34 points on the season -- his highest total since the 2013-14 season.
