  • Ducks' Kevin Bieksa: Likely to suit up Tuesday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/20/16) Bieksa (face) is expected to play against Montreal on Tuesday, Eric Stephens of the Orange County Register reports.

After the game, Bieksa sported a "not very good-looking swollen lip," but otherwise experienced no further damage. True veteran that he is, we'd expect the 35-year-old blueliner to suit up Tuesday, but will be sure to update his status prior to puck drop if he does not.

Ducks' Kevin Bieksa: Will not return Monday

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/19/16) Bieksa will not return to Monday night's game in Toronto after leaving with a face injury.

Bieksa took a puck deflected off the stick of Roman Polak straight to the face and left the game shortly thereafter. While there didn't appear to be any blood on the ice, the severity of Bieksa's injury is not immediately known. Hopefully, coach Randy Carlyle will be able to provide some insight immediately after the game or early in the day Tuesday prior to the Duck's matchup in Montreal.

Ducks' Kevin Bieksa: Snaps 18-game goal drought

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(12/16/16) Bieksa's second goal of the season was also just his second point of the season, but led all Ducks defenseman with five hits in Thursday's 4-3 win against Boston.

He's definitely not known for his offense, but he's also never failed to score double-digit point totals since his 39-game rookie season. Stuck on the third pairing due to an embarrassment of riches on the team's top two pairs, Bieksa skated just 14:54 and has little to no fantasy value. Only in leagues that count hits and blocked shots is he worthy of consideration for a roster spot.

Ducks' Kevin Bieksa: Logs season-low 15 seconds on power play

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(11/7/16) Bieksa received just 15 seconds of power-play time during Sunday's win over Calgary.

The Ducks scored two power-play goals on three opportunities, which limited Bieksa's chances to begin with, but fantasy owners might want to prepare for a smaller power-play role going forward for the veteran. Ryan Getzlaf and Rickard Rakell are back in the fold, and the upcoming return of Hampus Lindholm could leave Bieksa with very limited power-play time. Additionally, Bieksa has just a single goal and no assists on the season, so his value is already clinging to the peripheral categories.

Ducks' Kevin Bieksa: Registers first minor penalty

by RotoWire Staff | Special to CBSSports.com
(10/19/16) Bieksa received 20:53 of ice time and took his first minor penalty of the season Monday against the Devils.

With his offensive prime in the rear-view mirror, Bieksa relies on his peripheral statistics for fantasy value. He entered this season with 280 penalty minutes, 375 shots, 405 hits and 331 blocked shots over the past three years, which has provided value in deep league utilizing real-time stats. Bieksa has also seen over two minutes of power-play time per game in three of his first four outings this season. However, his PP minutes will likely decline once Hampus Lindholm is re-signed or if Shea Theodore is promoted.
