Bayern Munich has one foot through the Champions League quarterfinal door after destroying Arsenal 5-1 in their round of 16 first-leg clash at the Alianz Arena on Wednesday.

Here’s everything to know about the result.

First half

Arjen Robben put Bayern up 1-0 in the 11th minute off of a fantastic long-range shot that left the Gunners stunned.

But Arsenal rebounded well and won a penalty kick, which Alex Sanchez missed and then finished the rebound to give the Gunners a formidable half-time result.

Second half

Bayern scored four times in the second half, including three goals in 10 minutes, with Thiago Alcantara scoring twice. With Arsenal pushing for another goal, Bayern just made it look easy and obliterated an Arsenal defense that lost Laurent Koscielny to injury.

Game-changing moment

Bayern took a 3-1 lead before the hour mark when Robert Lewandowski produced a brilliant backheel assist to Thiago Alcantara. Check it out.

It served as the knockout punch for Bayern, as Arsenal never recovered.

Player of the match

Lewandowski. He had a goal and an assist in this one and did what was asked of him in attack.

What the result means

Bayern has a huge four-goal lead and is the clear favorite to advance. But Arsenal does have that away goal, but their chances of advancing are slim-to-none.

When is second leg?

March 7 in London.
