It hasn't even been a week, but the pain still stings just like it did moments after finding out. That horrific, tragic plane crash on Monday in Colombia, which carried Brazilian soccer club Chapecoense and resulted in 71 deaths, won't go away anytime soon. And it's not meant to go away. For everyone who lost their lives in the crash, they aren't forgotten, but remembered and honored.
On Saturday, fans of the team filled the stadium in southern Brazil during an emotional public memorial in the rain. Here are just some of the powerful and captivating images from the event, which saw FIFA president Gianni Infantino in attendance. Take a look:

As a soccer fan thousands of miles away, it's painful for me to see these images, so it's challenging to even imagine what it has meant to those who love and were close to the club, their players and more.
Soccer is the one language all nations speak, and it's the one thing that every nation has in common, the one thing that can bring us together. And this event has brought the world together as we collectively remember Chapecoense and hope for happiness and healing to soon find its way to those suffering from this.
