Manchester United striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has been offered a contract to play in Major League Soccer.

According to SI’s Grant Wahl, the Los Angeles Galaxy have offered to make him the highest paid player in MLS history, trying to lure him this summer.

The United striker, who has an option to remain at Old Trafford for another year, has often been linked with MLS. At 35, he still has plenty to offer, evident by his form this season where he leads the Red Devils with 26 goals.

It’s worth noting that the highest paid player in the history of MLS is Orlando City’s Kaka, who makes $7.1 million per season. Ibrahimovic’s contract would likely be just north of that.

If he does make the move to the United States, it would be a mega signing. He is still one of the best, most recognizable players in the world of soccer and would boost the league’s exposure, comparable to that of David Beckham.

Getting Ibra will prove difficult for the league. Back in November, manager Jose Mourinho said the club will take up the option on Ibra’s contract, keeping him in England till 2018.

Now, nothing is set in stone as of yet. And maybe he won’t come until his deal is up, but if MLS lands him, he will need to behave
