Who's Playing

Oklahoma @ East Carolina

Current Records: Oklahoma 2-0; East Carolina 3-0

What to Know

The Oklahoma Sooners will square off against the East Carolina Pirates at 7 p.m. ET Thursday at HTC Center. Keep an eye on the score for this one: these two teams posted some lofty points totals in their previous games, so things might heat up even more when they meet.

The Sooners entered their contest last week as the heavy favorite, and they fully lived up to expectations. They put a hurting on the Texas-San Antonio Roadrunners at home to the tune of 96-44. Oklahoma got double-digit scores from four players: forward Tanner Groves (21), guard Elijah Harkless (10), guard Umoja Gibson (10), and guard Marvin Johnson (10). Elijah Harkless' performance made up for a slower matchup against the NW State Demons last Tuesday.

Meanwhile, East Carolina didn't have too much trouble with the Western Carolina Catamounts at home on Sunday as they won 95-79. Among those leading the charge for the Pirates was Tristen Newton, who shot 5-for-7 from beyond the arc and finished with 30 points, six dimes and six boards.

Their wins bumped the Sooners to 2-0 and East Carolina to 3-0. In Oklahoma's victory, Tanner Groves had 21 points in addition to five rebounds and Harkless had ten points. We'll see if East Carolina have a strategy for dealing with them or if they lead their team to another successful outing.
