Buffalo vs. Northern Illinois Live updates Score, results, highlights, for Wednesday's NCAAF game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Buffalo vs. Northern Illinois football game
Game Recap
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Northern Illinois Huskies ultimately got the result they were hoping for on Wednesday with a 33-27 victory over the Buffalo Bulls. Buffalo can consider this payback for the 49-30 defeat they dealt the Huskies the last time the teams encountered one another last November.
WR Trayvon Rudolph was the offensive standout of the contest for NIU, punching in one rushing touchdown in addition to catching four passes for 80 yards. That touchdown -- a 75-yard rush in the second quarter -- was one of the highlights of the matchup. On the other hand, one thorn in NIU's side was the less-than-spectacular play of QB Rocky Lombardi, who fumbled the ball once with only 197 yards passing.
A silver lining for Buffalo was the play of RB Dylan McDuffie, who rushed for one TD and 124 yards on 30 carries.
NIU's win brought them up to 8-3. The Bulls have fallen quite a ways from their 6-1 record from last season and are now 4-7.
The Huskies will take on the Western Michigan Broncos at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday at Brigham Field at Huskie Stadium. These teams both might be coming in a bit winded after having run the length of the field multiple times in their most recent games. As for Buffalo, they will face off against the Ball State Cardinals at 7 p.m. ET on Tuesday at Scheumann Stadium. Ball State also suffered a recent loss, falling 37-17 to the Central Michigan Chippewas on Wednesday.
