Houston vs. Hawaii: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Thursday's NCAA Football game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Houston vs. Hawaii football game
The Houston Cougars and the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors will compete for holiday cheer in the New Mexico Bowl on Thursday at Toyota Stadium at 3:30 p.m. ET. Hawaii should still be riding high after a win, while the Cougars will be looking to right the ship.
Houston was close but no cigar last week as they fell 30-27 to the Memphis Tigers. Houston were close to capping off a huge comeback (they were down 27-6 at the end of the third quarter), but they just didn't have quite enough oomph. Despite the loss, they got a solid performance out of QB Clayton Tune, who passed for two TDs and 270 yards on 49 attempts in addition to rushing for one TD and 36 yards.
Meanwhile, while not quite a landslide, the contest between Hawaii and the UNLV Rebels last week was still a pretty decisive one as Hawaii wrapped it up with a 38-21 victory at home. The Rainbow Warriors' QB Chevan Cordeiro did his thing and accumulated 252 passing yards in addition to rushing for two TDs and 88 yards. Cordeiro put himself on the highlight reel with a 54-yard TD scramble in the first quarter.
Houston's defeat took them down to 3-4 while Hawaii's win pulled them up to 4-4. A win for the Cougars would reverse both their bad luck and Hawaii's good luck. We'll see if Houston manages to pull off that tough task or if Hawaii keeps their momentum going instead.
