The first day of the Early Signing Period rolls on into the afternoon and Pitt just got another addition to its recruiting class. Samuel Okunlola, a three-star edge rusher from Thayer Academy in Braintree, Massachusetts, announced his commitment to the Panthers live Wednesday afternoon on National Signing Day on CBS Sports HQ. Okublola chose Pitt over Georgia, Arizona, Arizona State, Arkansas and Auburn.

The No. 75 defensive lineman in the 2022 recruiting class, Okunlola is considered the No. 510 overall prospect for this cycle, according to the 247Sports Composite. In addition, Williams is the 4th-ranked player in the state of Massachusetts.

Okunlola is the 13th player to commit to the Panthers during the current recruiting cycle. This class features one four-star player and is ranked No. 66 in the nation. Okunlola's pledge keeps Pittsburgh's historic 2021 momentum going in the right direction.

Pitt is coming off of a sensational regular season in which star quarterback Kenny Pickett led the program to a 11-2 record and an ACC title. Additionally, Pittsburgh will take on Michigan State in the Peach Bowl later this month, which is the school's third bowl game in the past four seasons.
