Ramirez has officially retired Thursday, Pirates broadcaster Greg Brown reports.
Ramirez was set to become a free agent in the offseason, but opted to retire instead. The 37-year-old played 18 seasons in the major leagues, recording 386 home runs, 1417 RBI and 2303 hits in his career. He was a three-time All-Star (2005, 2008, 2014) and won the Silver Slugger Award in 2011 with the Cubs.
