It's that time of year again. You know the one I'm talking about. It's too chilly to go play golf outside so you start searching for equipment to stock up on that might save you two or five or even 10 strokes when the weather thaws out.

Or maybe you're looking for a loved one -- that big-time golf fan in your life who you wants golf things that you have 1) Never even heard of, and/or 2) Don't know where to find.

That's why I'm here. This is Part I of my 2014 Holiday Gift Guide (Part II will come out on Friday), and it's loaded with both inexpensive and lavish gifts for golfers everywhere.

Happy shopping season.

Expensive ($200 and up)

These are products that might be the only gift your golf-loving loved one gets, but they're worth it. This is all high-end, high-quality equipment.

Nike Vapor Pro Driver

Photo via Nike

Price: $400
Buy: Well the driver doesn't actually come out until the end of January but you can always get a Nike gift card.
Why: I've been playing with this driver for a little over a month now, and I absolutely love it. I love the way it looks, love the way it feels and love the way it performs.

It's also the driver I had in my bag the first time I broke 80.

I liked what Nike was doing with their Covert stuff but this Vapor technology has taken it to another level. Plus, if it's good enough for Rory McIlroy, it's plenty good enough for me.

Mizuno MP-54 Irons

Photo via MizunoUSA.com

Price: $1,000
Buy: Here
Why: These are the clubs I had in my bag for most of the year (before switching to a different Mizuno model), and they were fantastic. They're a little on the pricey side, but I have to say you aren't going to find a more well-crafted set of irons.

Mizuno does things the right way, and if you're somebody who's on the verge of being pretty decent (let's say you're shooting between 84-90 pretty consistenly), then these sticks are perfect for you.

Bushnell NEO XS

Photo via Bushnell

Price: $200
Buy: Here
Why: I've been a big fan of Bushnell products for a while now as I've been using their rangefinders for over a year. This watch takes it to a whole new level, though. With 33,000 pre-loaded courses you don't even have to reach into your bag to pull the finder out as it's included right there on your wrist. Pretty cool stuff.

Sort of expensive (between $200 and $40)

These are items that aren't necessarily centerpieces but could potentially be if paired together with one of our inexpensive gifts.

Accelerator Pro

Price: $50
Buy: Here
Why: I've had this set up in my office for the last two weeks, and it's been a great way to decompress (from writing about golf, I know) during the work day. It's also a great way to work on my short game while it's too cold out to play.

Adidas Golf Tour360x Shoes

Photo via Adidas

Price: $140
Buy: Here
Why: If you read this blog often or know me at all, you know I'm not an Adidas evangelist. Nevertheless, their shoe game has won me over. I haven't encountered an Adidas shoe yet that I don't like and these guys are no different.

2015 PGA Championship Tickets

Price: $95
Buy: Here
Why: There are still a lot of tickets for sale for the 2015 PGA Championship and at a pretty decent price, too. If the last major that was held there is any indication the final major of 2015 could be pretty epic.

Insexpensive ($40 or less)

These are smaller products (possibly even stocking stuffers) that you can get as ancillary gifts to the main events we discussed above.

State Traditions Belt

Price: $35
Buy:
Here
Why: I love the concept here from State Traditions where it takes your favorite school's colors and applies them with a logo of the actual state.

I have the Oklahoma State belt above, and I absolutely love it. Other solid choices: Mississippi, Alabama and Ohio.

Kentwook Golf Socks

Photo via Kentwool

Price: $20
Buy: Here
Why: These guys make the gift guide pretty much every year simply because of how consistently great they are. A perfect balance of comfort and breathability. I'm a huge fan.

G/FORE Golf Gloves

Photo via G/FORE

Price: $35
Buy: Here
Why: When it comes to style, G/FORE is peerless. Their color schemes and wearability are off the charts, and they have a comfortable product to boot. A bunch of colorful thumbs up.

Nicklaus Golf Balls

Photo via Nicklaus.com

Price: $28-32 (per dozen)
Buy: Here
Why: I'm not sure that many people know that the greatest golfer ever is now making golf balls, but I've been using them for the last few months. I love the way they feel on the green (they're a little harder to my feel and roll really true), and they're solidly priced.
