Shocker: Nick Saban, a 'man of business,' takes golf seriously
Nick Saban needs another bag to carry around all of his football trophies while he plays golf with Avery Johnson
Alabama's football coach, to nobody's surprise, takes his golf very seriously. Justin Thomas, who starred on the golf team at Alabama (which has taught Saban a thing or two about winning), recently explained why Saban is a pretty good golfer.
"He's good," Thomas told Golf.com. "He practices a pretty good bit in the spring -- as often as he can. His No. 1 priority is pretty apparent. You can't compare anything to how he is in those football games. I wouldn't call him an intense person. He's just serious.
"He gets a bad rap from people that he's not personable and comes off a little arrogant or mean. He's not. He's a great guy. He has a lot of people asking for his time. I'm sure that would get a little bit annoying, but he handles it all well. He's a man of his business."
Saban took a little of that spring time this week to hit balls before the Regions Traditions with Alabama basketball coach Avery Johnson. His swing looks a little flat but is pretty good.
Can you imagine playing with Saban though?
Putt it out.
Nick, that's four inches away.
You saw that 2014 game at Auburn, putt it out!
Also, if you missed this epic story about Saban and one of Alabama's golfers (not Thomas), you need to read it.
