Commanders vs. Dolphins: Live updates, score, results, highlights, for Sunday's NFL game
Live scores, highlights and updates from the Commanders vs. Dolphins football game
The Commanders will be in front of their home fans on Sunday, but a look at the spread shows they might need that home-field advantage. They will take on the Miami Dolphins at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday. The Commanders are limping into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
It looks like Washington got the smaller half of the wishbone at Thanksgiving dinner. It's going to take some time for them to recover from the 45-10 bruising that the Cowboys dished out on Thursday.
Despite the loss, the Commanders got a solid performance out of Sam Howell, who threw for 300 yards on 28 of 44 attempts, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, the Commanders couldn't find the end zone and finished the game with only a touchdown. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as the Cowboys scored six.
Meanwhile, Miami entered their contest on Friday as the heavy favorite, and they fully lived up to expectations. They were the clear victor by a 34-13 margin over the Jets. The win made it back-to-back wins for Miami.
The Dolphins' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raheem Mostert led the charge by rushing for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Jevon Holland got in on the action as well, converting a pick in the second quarter into a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding the Jets to a paltry 159 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to the Dolphins' ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out seven times before it was all said and done. Christian Wilkins was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two sacks himself.
New York's win bumped their season record to 3-8 while Washington's loss dropped theirs to 4-7.
Keep an eye on the quarterbacks in this one, as both the Commanders and the Dolphins don't mess around when it comes to the passing game. The Commanders have been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 278.2 passing yards per game (they're ranked fourth in passing yards per game overall). However, it's not like the Dolphins (currently ranked second in passing yards per game) struggle in that department as they've been even better at 294.9 per game. It's looking like Sunday's contest might be a classic QB duel. Check CBS Sports after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other NFL content.
