Napoli vs. Juventus score: Koulibaly nets late winner as Kean error leaves Old Lady without a Serie A win

Napoli secured a massive comeback victory on Saturday defeating Juventus, 2-1. Both their goals came in the second half as they moved to the summit of the Serie A table. After Alvaro Morata's first-half opener for the visitors, the hosts fought back and were the sharper, stronger team for much of the 90 minutes. With Cristiano Ronaldo now at Manchester United, and many players rested after the international break, Juventus looked average and lacked ideas for the most part, producing just four shots to Napoli's 25.

Napoli dominated possession (68 percent), were the more accurate passing side (91 percent), and always looked like the more likely team to win, especially after the 57th minute equalizer from Matteo Politano. A signature back-post curler from Lorenzo Insigne was saved by Wojciech Szczesny, but Politano pounced on the loose ball and scored on a tight angle.

Then, while Juventus looked content with the draw, it's new striker made a grave mistake. Moise Kean, in his second stint with the club, played a terrible defensive header in front of his own goal on a Napoli corner, forcing his goalkeeper to effectively save a shot on goal, with Napoli  defender Kalidou Koulibaly finishing on the loose ball with just five minutes to go.

The win means Napoli are in first place in the league and looking like title contenders, while Juventus are still without a win in this young season with many more questions than answers. American Weston McKennie, who was sent home for breaking COVID protocols with the United States men's national team, started the match and played 72 minutes.

And it's horrific by Juve. The defensive corner sees Keane head the ball unintentionally on his own goal, and it's initially saved before Koulibaly taps in the loose ball.

Moise Kean is on for Juve. But Napoli feeling like the most likely to win this with so much possession and pinning Juve back.

It's a deserved equalizer from the hosts as they've looked like the stronger side early in the second half. Insigne's far-post effort is saved well, but Politano finishes the loose ball on a super tight angle. Game on!

49' Napoli applying the pressure early in this second half and dominating the ball. Juve are pinned back, but the counter is there. Not quite back and forth though as the hosts are passing the ball sharply and providing dangerous balls into the box.
