What to know about each team:
Villanova
The reigning national champion stumbled out of the gate against No. 16 seed Mount St. Mary’s, trailing for nearly the entire first half on Thursday afternoon. When the Wildcats came out for the second half they were a completely different team, outscoring the Mount 47-26 in the final frame. Credit the Mount for giving them all it could handle early, but it’s a little concerning that the No. 1 overall seed in the tourney turned the ball over 13 times and had a tough time early against a 16 seed. Nova will have its hands full against No. 8 seed Wisconsin, a team many believed was under-seeded. The Badgers boast a top-10 defense in adjusted efficiency and are well-equipped to take advantage of carelessness with the ball.
Wisconsin
The Badgers got plenty of offense and held of a solid Virginia Tech team. But now comes the game that brings a heavy portion of intrigue. UW is a trendy upset pick of Villanova. It will probably be a close game. Villanova’s defense of Ethan Happ is something to keep an eye on, and Bronson Koenig’s penchant for big March buckets has shown itself again.
