Drake receives cease-and-desist from Kentucky after minor NCAA violation
Rapper Drake received a cease-and-desist letter after taking a photo with a recruit at Big Blue Madness.

It turns out rapper Drake has more issues than the recent allegations from Meek Mill. According to information obtained by the Sporting News, Kentucky issued Drake a cease-and-desist letter earlier this year after his appearance at UK's Big Blue Madness netted the school a minor NCAA violation.
Kentucky self-reported the violation -- impermissible communication with prospective student-athletes -- to the NCAA, which must have been frustrating after school officials went out of their way to inform Drake of the rules against contacting recruits.
According to the details in the letter, Drake and his management team arrived at Rupp Arena prior to the event's tipoff and were advised that "NCAA rules prohibited the institution from arranging contact between him and the PSAs as this would be an NCAA violation." After informing the three recruits in town for Big Blue Madness that they were not allowed to have contact with Drake, athletic directors went as far as trying to coordinate who would be in the hallways to ensure that they did not cross paths.
After the event, Drake was looking for John Calipari to say goodbye when a recruit asked for a picture. Drake obliged, and it resulted in a Level III violation for the basketball program. Because Kentucky self-reported the violation and the prospective student-athlete, Charles Matthews, had already committed to the Wildcats, the interaction will not result in much more than the cease-and-desist letter.
