Kansas takes a big hit with season-ending injury to Jayhawks' 7-footer
The Jayhawks now have a major concern on the interior

North Carolina has serious reason to be concerned about a renewed investigation by the NCAA.
Kansas' unfortunate news, but it could have season-long implications.
The Jayhawks have lost freshman center Udoka Azubuike to a left wrist injury. He's done for the year. Azubuike, who is a load at 7 feet and 280 pounds, will leave a void in his absence. Kansas was getting good play out of the newcomer, who averaged 5.0 points and 4.4 rebounds and recently earned starting status. A star? No. Improving, and I know Bill Self has high hopes for what he'll become.
"Udoka tore ligaments to his left wrist in practice Tuesday that will require surgery and he will miss the remainder of the season," Self said. "Surgery should take place in the next few weeks and doctors are confident he will make a full recovery and be full speed sometime this summer."
Azubuike also blocked 18 shots this season. Kansas is 10-1 and ranked No. 3 in the nation.
"We all feel bad for Udoka. He has worked so hard and has put himself in a position to have a tremendous impact on this year's squad," Self said. "This is a blow to our team but I know that we will rally around this and Udoka will work hard to insure a full recovery."
The news comes as Kansas preps for an interesting road game against 7-5 UNLV on Thursday night. That game will air at 9 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network. As of now, Kansas has a top-10 resume in college hoops.
With Azubuike out, Kansas will need to get even more production out of Carlton Bragg, who was lifted off suspension last week after charges were dropped against him in a case involving physicality with a female. The Jayhawks aren't deep in the frontcourt. Senior Landen Lucas will become even more important, and wing Josh Jackson might have to work in some time as a small 4/power forward.
