The capper to Villanova's amazing 2015-16 season came on Tuesday, when the reigning champs of college basketball took a trip to Washington, D.C., to visit the White House and get a face-to-face with the President.

A press conference, too. Obama spoke to friends, fans and family of the Villanova program, in addition to media on hand to cover the event. The President said Villanova "treated us to as memorable a run and as memorable a championship game as I can remember. These Wildcats were about more than one moment or one shot."

Obama referenced Nova's "disappointing" outcomes in recent years in the NCAA Tournament -- and then came 2016.

"It set up an unbelievable showdown with the Tar Heels," he said. "It might be the best title game of all time. The last few seconds could be a documentary."

That one shot will live forever though, of course. Kris Jenkins' buzzer-beating winner that clinched perhaps the best title game in the history of men's basketball. Obama saying Jenkins "shot this team into basketball lore. ... That was a good shot."

Jenkins was name-dropped, as were Ryan Arcidiacono (Obama mispronounced Arch's last name, by the way), Josh Hart and Daniel Ochefu.

"Also not afraid to do the little things -- we saw him grab that mop," Obama said, referencing Ochefu wiping up the floor during the stoppage in play, and just before Nova ran the final play of the title game. Obama also asked Hart where he went to high school. It's Sidwell Friends School, which is where Obama's daughter, Malia, will graduate from next week.

Barack Obama called VU coach Jay Wright "the best-dressed man in college basketball, the George Clooney of coaches."

Wright's long been known for his sartorially impeccable style, but now, finally, he'll be just as known for winning the 2016 title.

He also made reference of Wright's still-amazing reaction to the winning shot. Here, let's just watch this again. "Bang."

"Coach Wright, on the other hand, played it cool, turned around and shook hands like nothing happened," Obama joked.

In his brief remarks , Wright said, "Mr. President, after the championship we had a big press conference, but nothing as big as this," Wright said. "This is a great day for Villanova University."

Arcidiacono and Ochefu presented Obama with two jerseys, under glass, the jerseys that Villanova wore in December at the Pearl Harbor Classic. Coincidentally enough, that was the game that Villanova got romped by none other than Oklahoma (78-55). Wright's club got revenge on the biggest stage, beating OU in the Final Four by an unprecedented margin (95-51).

Obama also referenced this amazing story of Arcidiacono and Ochefu surprising a young Philadelphia boy who's battling cancer. The guys did this less than two weeks removed from winning the title. It's been a spring to remember for Villanova. And now, with Hart and Jenkins coming back, this team is capable of doing something even more remarkable: repeating as national champs. We've got 'em ranked No. 3 in our offseason poll.
