Just when Virginia thought it had pulled out a nail-biter at home, Florida State's Dwayne Bacon crushed the souls of Cavaliers fans everywhere with a stone-cold 3-pointer with under three seconds left. Here's the insane sequence of the last 10 seconds of the game, which started with a Kyle Guy 3-pointer and ended with the aforementioned Bacon 3 of his own:

Virginia got off a shot from half court which fell just flat, and it gave Tony Bennett's team a rare loss on its home floor, 60-58. The home loss is so rare, in fact, that the Cavaliers nearly went two full years between losses in ACC play.

The last time Virginia lost to an ACC opponent was Jan. 31, 2015 to Duke. Its now 35-2 in the last 37 games of ACC play at John Paul Jones Arena.

The Cavaliers' pack-line defense in particular makes it nearly impossible to score on them and find any success -- regardless of whether they are playing at home or away. But Florida State did it by shooting 53.3 percent from beyond the arc, despite shooting 12-of-24 from the free-throw line.

It's not breaking news, but the No. 1 scoring defense in the country belongs to Virginia, which holds opponents to an NCAA-low 47.7 points per game. Teams have a difficult time scoring 25 points per half, which is why Florida State's Dwayne Bacon 26-point second-half outburst was such an incredible -- and rare! -- feat.

The Seminoles, who have notched three straight top-20 recruiting classes, seem to have premier talent coming in every season in Tallahassee. However, the results have been mixed given the level of talent.

Saturday's result in ultimately overwhelming the 12th-ranked Virginia Cavaliers was a perfect storm of that talent playing up to its expectations, led by former five-star recruit Dwayne Bacon. It highlights what has been a truly wacky start to ACC play, with the top-4 teams in the conference opening league play at a combined 1-4.
