WATCH: Villanova caps wild rally, tips in winner with less than a second left
Virginia had it all but sealed against the No. 1 team in the country
With Kansas' huge win at Kentucky on Saturday, Villanova stepped onto the floor for an epic clash with Virginia. After losing to Marquette earlier in the week, the Wildcats were set to slide in the new polls on Monday, likely ceding the No. 1 spot to the Jayhawks.
When the cold shooting stopped and the buckets started falling, Villanova mounted a charge against Virginia that is going to make the No. 1 spot a topic of debate for at least another week. Josh Hart and Kris Jenkins couldn't buy a bucket in the first half but elevated their play in the final minutes of this huge game with a Final Four-type feeling in the building. Both of these teams have made deep tournament runs, but only one is the most clutch team in college basketball.
Here's the final possession, sealing the Wildcats' 61-59 win:

A few other notes from the game:
1. Defense leads to offense: Villanova didn't do a good job of locking down Virginia in the first half, and those struggles were amplified by poor shooting on the end of the floor. After hitting just four field goals in the first half (18 percent) and relying on the free-throw line to get points, Villanova shot a blistering 72 percent in the second half. They had an extra bounce in their steps from stepping up and getting stops on defense, starting around 12-minute mark in the second half.
2. The most clutch team in college basketball: Josh Hart had the ball in his hands at the end of the game, and though it was redshirt freshman Donte DiVincenzo coming through with the game-winning tip-in (his only field goal of the game) the senior was the catalyst for the play.
