District judge rules that the Joe Mixon video is not to be released
Cleveland County District Judge Thad Balkman ruled that the Joe Mixon video is not part of court record and will remain sealed.

Cleveland County District Judge Thad Balkman ruled that the video showing Joe Mixon punching a female student is not part of the official court record and is therefore not subject to being made public. As such, it will remain sealed.
This comes after an appeals court ruled earlier this week that the district court must hear the lawsuit brought forth by the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters, which called for the release of the Mixon tape. Balkman held a hearing on Thursday where the OAB attorneys claimed that, since the video was shown in court, it was part of court record and should be released.
Balkman ruled against that, stating that since the video was not entered as evidence by either side in the case, it was not part of the court record and would remain sealed for now.
However, as The Oklahoman reports, this is not the end of the case as it still must be determined if the video is part of the public record as part of the Oklahoma Open Record Act.
