Father of Texas football player suffers heart attack prior to WVU game
Texas officials will not release the name of the player
The father of a Texas football player suffered a cardiac arrest and collapsed outside of Darrell K. Royal/Texas Memorial Stadium prior to Saturday's game against West Virginia.
The school's police department confirmed a fan, 60, was listed in serious but stable condition and an Austin-Travis Country EMS spokesman said the fan was transported in "life threatening" condition.
As the story was unfolding it was discovered that the fan was the father of a current Longhorn football player. Local reporters in Austin are choosing not to identify the fan or the player out of respect for the family in this troubling time.
Texas official confirmed this fan is the father of a UT football player. Family has asked the school not to release the name. https://t.co/no3IiZwbTo
