Marvin Terry, a three-star linebacker out of Dallas, Texas, was the first player to commit to Missouri once Barry Odom took over as its coach. When National Signing Day came and went on Wednesday, however, the Tigers never received Terry's National Letter of Intent. But he had a good excuse ... well, maybe not so good ...

He was in jail.

In fact, Terry is still in jail as of 5 p.m. ET on Thursday, and he's been there since Jan. 25. That's when Terry was arrested on three counts of suspicion of assault. According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch:

The alleged assault is described as assault causing bodily injury/family violence, family violence assault for impeding breath or circulation, and a third charge of continuous family violence assault within 12 months, plus a charge of insufficient bond. Terry’s total bond was set at $34,500.

Police had originally been called to break up a dispute on Jan. 5, in which the alleged victim -- with whom Terry has a child -- told police that Terry had assaulted her. He was later arrested on a warrant.

As for his future with Missouri, it appears there isn't one. While coaches can't talk about recruits that haven't signed, the Post-Dispatch also reports that Missouri has "moved on" from Terry, and that he "will not be a part of the program in the future." No surprise there.
