Miami guard Durand Scott reinstated by NCAA

Miami announced on Wednesday afternoon that junior guard Durand Scott was reinstated by the NCAA.

Scott had been declared ineligible last Friday before the Hurricanes' ACC tournament game against Florida State, for receiving impermissible benefits. Scott has to repay the benefits to charity, and also sit out six games.

Because Scott sat out against the Seminoles, he will miss five more games. The suspension will carry over until next season if necessary.

Scott, a 6-foot-5 guard from New York City, averaged 12.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists this season for Miami (Fl.), which missed the NCAA tournament and opens up the NIT against Valparaiso on Wednesday night.
