Source: Gregg Marshall yet to hear from South Carolina

Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall has yet to hear from South Carolina.

Marshall appears the obvious choice. However, sources told CBSSports.com that Marshall -- a South Carolina native who led the Shockers to the NCAA tournament this past season -- has not been contacted by South Carolina athletic director Eric Hyman.

Marshall, 49, went to seven NCAA tournaments in nine years at Winthrop before leaving in 2007.

Wichita State was 27-6 this past season and won the Missouri Valley regular-season title with a 16-2 -- and a large segment of the South Carolina fan base supports the hiring of the fiery Marshall.

However, South Carolina athletic director Eric Hyman passed over Marshall back when he hired Darrin Horn -- who was let go a couple weeks ago after a 60-63 overall mark.
