Arizona State's leading scorer transferring

Arizona State is losing leading scorer Trent Lockett.

Sources told CBSSports.com that Lockett, who averaged 13 points and 5.8 boards this past season, was given his release to transfer elsewhere on Tuesday. A source said that Lockett will head closer to home in Minnesota to be near his mother, who is sick.

Herb Sendek and the Sun Devils also had starting forward Kyle Cain and reserve wing Chanse Creekmur transfer in the past few days.

Cain averaged 7.5 points and 5.5 rebounds while Creekmur averaged 4.3 points.

Arizona State finished 10-21 this past season and 6-12 in Pac-12 play.

Sendek and the Sun Devils have had a rough season. First heralded freshman Jahii Carson wasn't cleared by the NCAA and had to sit out this season. Sophomore Keala King was booted from the program in January after leading the team in scoring at 13.7 points per game.
