Duquesne's Ron Everhart fired

Just days after losing three players to transfer, including star guard T.J. McConnell, Duquesne coach Ron Everhart was fired.

Everhart confirmed the news to CBSSports.com. Duquesne's president, Charles J. Dougherty, detailed the reasons for the firing in an email to the school's board that was obtained by CBSSports.com's Gary Parrish.

Everhart's team was 16-15 this past season and 7-9 in the A-10, but the recent news that McConnell -- along with sophomore guard Mike Talley and freshman Danny Herrera -- were leaving may have been the determining factor.

Everhart spent the past six seasons at Duquesne and was 99-89 overall. Previously, he was the head coach at Northeastern and McNeese State.
