Mississippi State's Moultrie plans to enter NBA Draft
NEW ORLEANS -- Mississippi State forward Arnett Moultrie plans to enter the NBA Draft and hire an agent, meaning he has no intentions of returning to Starkville.
"I have enjoyed my time at Mississippi State University and I will never forget the people I met and got to know," Moultrie said. "Keep me in your prayers and I will keep Bulldog Nation in mine."
Though entering the NBA Draft with both feet in is the likely path for Moultrie, sources have told CBSSports.com that graduating from Mississippi State, entering a graduate program elsewhere and applying for a waiver to play one more year of college basketball at another school immediately has been discussed, on some level, with the 6-foot-11 junior. That scenario is possible academically because Moultrie has actually been in college four years already. He spent his first two seasons at UTEP, then transferred to Mississippi State, sat out a year per normal transfer rules and played this past season, which was his fourth year on a college campus.
Moultrie averaged 16 points and 11 rebounds this season.
He's projected to be a first-round pick in June's NBA Draft.
