Source: Colorado State tabs Eustachy to be next men's basketball coach

Southern Miss' Larry Eustachy has reached a deal to become Colorado State's next men's basketball coach, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com on Wednesday.

CSU picked Eustachy after initially settling on former Oregon coach Ernie Kent, a source told CBSSports.com, which reported late Tuesday that CSU and Kent had reached a deal in principle. Coloradoan.com reported early Wednesday that a source at CSU told it Kent had been hired, too. But another source told CBSSports.com Wednesday afternoon that a CSU administrator stepped in and essentially blocked Kent's hiring, at which point Kent was removed from consideration. That's when Eustachy became the leading candidate.

Eustachy reached a deal Wednesday afternoon.

CSU is expected to formally introduce him in the next 24 hours.
