San Jose State's Bowen to be named Memphis athletic director
The University of Memphis has reached a deal in principle to make San Jose State's Tom Bowen its next athletic director, a source confirmed to CBSSports.com on Saturday.
Bowen is expected to be introduced at a Tuesday press conference.
The news was first reported by The Commercial Appeal.
Bowen is a Notre Dame graduate who spent seven years at San Jose State. The Denver native is considered an elite fundraiser and was a finalist for the UCF athletic director opening. He'll be replacing R.C. Johnson, who is retiring as Memphis prepares to enter the Big East in 2013.
