PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Nate Lozeau had 18 points and nine rebounds as Portland State defeated Walla Walla 102-47 on Saturday night.
Charles Odum added 17 points for the Vikings (5-2), who built a 50-22 lead by halftime and were able to get their young bench some minutes.
Andrew Bailey had 13 points for Walla Walla (1-12), an NAIA Division II school.
Michael Harthun's 3-pointer pulled the Vikings even with the Wolves at 11-all early in the game, touching off a 13-0 run capped by Michael Harvey's layup.
With a 71-31 lead in the second half, Portland State subbed out most of its starters with a crop of freshmen, including guards Jerron Smith and Gary Winston, forward Kidus Ephrem and center Brandon Cataldo. The Vikings lost five seniors from last season's team, which went 14-16.
Smith led the freshmen with 15 points.
