BOSTON (AP) - Patrick Heckmann connected on five 3-pointers en route to 19 points, Ryan Anderson scored 18 and grabbed 10 rebounds and Boston College beat Holy Cross 70-60 Saturday in the 112th meeting between the intrastate rivals.
The Eagles (7-5) went 10-for-24 (41.7 percent) on 3-point attempts to earn their fourth straight win. They've won 17 of the last 19 meetings with Holy Cross, although the Crusaders won 86-64 last season in Worcester, Mass.
Eric Obeysekere led Holy Cross (7-6) with 17 points and Dave Dudzinski had 15. The Crusaders were 2-for-19 on 3-point attempts.
Boston College was clinging to 37-35 lead early in the second half before it broke the game open with 15 straight points over a 6:26 stretch. Heckmann started the spree by banking in a 3-pointer from the right wing. He added another 3 from the right side just over a minute after Olivier Hanlan's 3 from the left wing.
Miller's baseline drive for a dunk snapped the Crusaders' scoreless drought with 9:31 to play. He followed that with a three-point play, cutting it to 52-40 with just over 8 minutes to go.
When Heckmann wasn't nailing 3s from the outside, Anderson worked his way into the paint for easy baskets, collecting two dunks and a layup to hold off the Crusaders as they tried to mount a comeback.
BC's lead never fell below double digits the rest of the way.
The Eagles hit four more 3-pointers and seven more free throws than Holy Cross in the opening half, but led just 35-30 at halftime. The Crusaders never got to the free throw line in the opening 20 minutes.
Coming off a three point win over Providence last Saturday, BC fell behind by four points early and was ice cold from the start. Holy Cross led 11-7 nearly 7 minutes into the opening half. The Eagles had just three baskets in the first 8 1/2 minutes.
