Cubs' Jason Heyward: Lands on disabled list

Heyward (hand) will head to the disabled list Thursday, Patrick Mooney of CSN Chicago reports.

Heyward has not played since suffering a hand injury while sliding for a foul ball during Sunday's game against the Pirates, and will miss time on the DL. There were talks the past couple days that the outfielder could wind up missing time since the hand wasn't healing as fast as the Cubs had hoped. Heyward will likely be ready to rejoin the team as soon as he is eligible to come off the 10-day disabled list.
