Fantasy Baseball: Tuesday's DFS Advice
The pitchers going Tuesday night in Coors make it a near must play, and Heath Cummings suggests cheap players to put around your Coors' stack.

Monday was a good reminder of how much less the starting pitchers matter at Coors Field. The starters combined to go 13 innings and give up seven runs. Not great, but better than average at Coors. Then the Blue Jays bullpen came in and the Rockies stack blew up. Thankfully on Tuesday we have no such dilemma, because the starting pitchers are bad.
While I wouldn't say it's a must to play Coors in tournaments, it's the most likely path to success. It will also be extremely popular so we need to look for cheap plays that won't be as popular.
Travis d'Arnaud is still just $2,100 and facing a rookie that has some control problems. Hopefully he'll move up in the order after his three-hit game on Monday.
A.J. Reed is $100 more, with huge upside. Reed is now hitless in 10 major-league at-bats and has struck out six times in his last two games. If he's in the lineup against Tim Lincecum, I'll have some exposure. Lincecum doesn't have the strikeout stuff to dispose of Reed without a fight, and Reed's power is prodigious enough to leave the big park in Anaheim.
Kolten W0ng is $2,400 on FanDuel and gets Yordano Ventura, who is fresh off his suspension. On a steamy night in Kansas City, that park will play smaller than it normally does.
I wouldn't play all three of those players unless you're trying the stars and scrubs approach, but one or two of them could give you the salary flexibility and cheap production you need to compete in tournaments.
Starting Pitchers
Corey Kluber ($10,800, $13,400)
Kluber is the second biggest favorite of the day with the lowest implied runs allowed. He's also coming off a spectacular start against the Rays. The Braves aren't the perfect matchup for right-handed strikeout pitchers, but it also seems pretty unlikely they light Kluber up. As we saw with Trevor Bauer on Monday, the public loves pitchers against the Braves, so I'd expect high ownership.
Jon Lester ($11,100, $11,700)
Lester is the biggest favorite of the day and my second favorite stud on FanDuel. He's by far the top pitcher on DraftKings because of Kluber's price. The Reds have been better against LHP than I'd expect and just rocked Arrieta, but that doesn't discourage me. Lester's strikeout potential is as high as any on Tuesday.
Matt Harvey ($8,300, $6,500)
First off, Harvey's price on DraftKings is way too low. He probably deserved to be the highest owned pitcher at that price. On FanDuel it isn't quite as clear. Harvey has been rocked in both of his appearances against Washington, with -1 total FanDuel points in two starts. Since those two starts he has a 2.25 ERA and a WHIP of 0.88. At this price he's worth the risk.
Lucas Giolito ($7,200, $6,400)
If you think Harvey just isn't good anymore (or can't solve the Nationals), then Giolito is an excellent tournament play. The Mets offense is flat out bad right now, and Giolito is the top pitching prospect in baseball. Rookies have been disappointing this season, which should lower his ownership.
Stack Attack
I like the Blue Jays stack a lot more than I did on Monday and the Rockies a little less. Against Eddie Butler you should play any Blue Jay you can fit in the lineup. In 62.1 career innings at Coors Field, Butler has surrendered a .438 wOBA. I'd avoid left-handed Rockies, but Ryan Raburn and Nolan Arenado are definitely in play.
Orioles vs. Padres
Erik Johnson has one start this season with less than five runs allowed ... he gave up four in five innings in that game. The only negative for the Orioles is the negative park shift, but a masher like Chris Davis can get through that. Hyun-Soo Kim is one of the top values of the day.
Cubs @ Reds
This seems a little too obvious after Monday, but I'd definitely gets some Cubs exposure. While Zobrist, Bryant and Rizzo are the obvious plays, don't forget about Willson Contreras and Javier Baez. Baez is only $2,900 on FanDuel and has a career .831 OPS vs. LHP. John Lamb has been bad against lefties and righties alike, but sixteen of the eighteen extra base hits he's allowed have come against RHH.

I'm going to offer my early take on a cash game lineup, but of course you should always check out our Sportsline projections for lineup changes right up to lock. Also, check out our podcast on iTunes for extended thoughts on each slate from Chris Towers, Mike McClure and myself.
