Royals' Kris Medlen: Starting rehab assignment Tuesday

Medlen (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.

The 30-year-old right-hander is set to begin his rehab assignment at the team's spring training facility before moving up to Triple-A Omaha later in the week. Given that Medlen hasn't pitched at the big league level since early May and has had multiple setbacks in his recovery, he'll likely need most of the 30-day time frame for pitchers on rehab assignments.
