Yankees' Ben Gamel: Optioned to Triple-A

The Yankees optioned Gamel to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.

Gamel started games Tuesday and Wednesday but went just 1-for-8 in five games with the Yankees, so the team decided to send him down to open up a spot on the roster for reliever Tyler Olson. Gamel will likely garner consideration next time the Yankees need to call up an outfielder from the minors.
