76ers' Joel Embiid: Not likely to play in summer league contests

Sixers GM Bryan Colangelo said that while no decision has been made on Embiid's availability for summer league, it appears unlikely the center will be cleared to play, NBA.com's Scott Howard-Cooper reports. "There's no timeline [for Embiid to play in summer league]. But until I hear a doctor tell me 'No summer league,' I will always say anything's open. But the likelihood of him playing summer league is nil."
Embiid hasn't hit any unexpected setbacks since undergoing a second procedure last August to address a broken navicular bone in his right foot, but the Sixers continue to proceed cautiously with the big man, who has yet to make his NBA debut since getting drafted No. 3 overall in 2014. After such an extended absence, it probably wouldn't be ideal for Embiid to get thrust back into a competitive setting right away, so training camp seems like a more likely time when Embiid will be able to resume full-contact work on the court.
