Bulls' Cameron Payne: Dealt to Chicago

Payne was traded to Chicago on Thursday as part of a multi-player deal, Royce Young of ESPN reports.
Anthony Morrow and Joffrey Lauvergne will join Payne in Chicago, while the Bulls send the Thunder a package including Taj Gibson, Doug McDermott and a 2018 second-round pick. A lottery selection in 2015, Payne showed promise as a rookie but has struggled this season since returning from a broken foot. In 20 games, Payne averaged 5.3 points and 2.0 assists while shooting just 33.1 percent from the floor and 30.8 percent from three. Still, Chicago views Payne as having higher upside than its current crop of underwhelming point guards, and it's likely Payne will step into a more significant role with his new team. At this point, it's unclear when Payne will debut, but the Bulls play both Friday (vs. Phoenix) and Saturday (at Cleveland).
