Grizzlies' Matt Barnes: Records first career triple-double Friday
Share Video
Barnes blew up for 26 points (8-19 FG, 4-8 3Pt, 6-6 FT), 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and two steals across 44 minutes during the Grizzlies' 121-114 overtime victory versus the Pelicans on Friday.
Barnes committed five fouls, but he had zero turnovers in yet another short-handed win for the Grizzlies. Given the injury-depleted situation in Memphis, Barnes figures to continue playing a prominent role so long as he can avoid the plague himself. The Pelicans are a very poor defensive team, as evidenced by the fact that they allowed the Grizzlies to score 22 points in the overtime period. Therefore, expecting a repeat performance might be pushing it. Saturday's matchup against the Hawks will likely present a much more serious challenge for Barnes, who will once again be relied on more for more offensive contributions than usual.
