  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Dishes out eight assists in loss

Poole notched eight points (3-11 FG, 2-6 3Pt), eight assists, two blocks, one rebound and one steal across 25 minutes off the bench during Sunday's 125-106 loss to the Heat. With Trey Murphy back in the lineup following a one-game absence due to back soreness, Poole came off the bench after getting the spot start in Friday's loss to Portland. The 26-year-old guard struggled to find his rhythm from the field, finishing with just eight points after scoring at least 16 in each of his previous three appearances. However, Poole still led the Pelicans in assists, dishing out a game- and season-high eight dimes. Additionally, he set a new season high in blocks as well.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Dishes six dimes in start

Poole closed with 16 points (5-16 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 2-3 FT), one rebound and six assists over 30 minutes during Friday's 122-109 loss to Portland. Poole made his fifth start of the regular season Friday and first since Nov. 4 due to the absences of several key starters, including Trey Murphy (back) and Saddiq Bey (hip). Poole wasn't the most efficient from the field, but he led the Pelicans with six assists and finished tied with Karlo Matkovic as the team's third-leading scorer behind Zion Williamson (35 points) and Jeremiah Fears (18 points). Across the 10 games since returning from an 18-game absence due to a left quadriceps strain, Poole has averaged 17.1 points, 3.4 assists, 2.1 rebounds, 2.4 threes and 1.0 steals over 36.4 minutes per game, though he's connected on just 27.6 percent of his three-point attempts over that span.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Gets starting nod Friday

Poole will start against the Trail Blazers on Friday. The Pelicans will be without several key contributors Friday, giving Poole the chance to step into the starting five for the first time since Nov. 4. Over nine outings in December, the 26-year-old shooting guard averaged 17.2 points, 3.1 assists, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 steals in 26.0 minutes per contest.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Hits for 26 points in defeat

Poole ended with 26 points (6-14 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 10-10 FT), three rebounds and two assists in 26 minutes during Wednesday's 134-118 loss to Chicago. The team's unwillingness to move Poole back into the starting lineup is a bit of a head-scratcher. Coach James Borrego seems focused on developing Jeremiah Fears, and the staff may have concluded that Poole's second-unit contribution is more valuable. They may be right on that account, as Poole is certainly logging minutes like a starter. He posted his second consecutive 26-point total during the loss, and we'll get a better idea of how he's doing with his sore ankle during an upcoming back-to-back scenario next week.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Explodes for 26 points in loss

Poole ended with 26 points (7-14 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 8-8 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block over 26 minutes during Monday's 130-125 loss to the Knicks. Poole could find his way back into a starting role soon, as he's consistently outperforming Jeremiah Fears off the bench. Fears logged only 22 minutes in the defeat, and Poole was obviously more effective for the duration of the game. Aside from a poor performance against the Sixers, Poole has made a strong case for a first-unit gig since returning from injury, averaging 16.1 points, 3.3 assists, 2.1 rebounds and 1.3 steals over the last eight games.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Returns with 19 points off bench

Poole logged 19 points (7-18 FG, 2-11 3Pt, 3-6 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and four steals across 31 minutes during Friday's 115-108 loss to Phoenix. Poole missed the Pelicans' previous game with a nagging ankle injury, but he played through any residual pain and posted a solid number with the second unit. Although Jeremiah Fears appears to have a solid grasp on the starting gig at point guard, Poole will continue to push the youngster for time. The job was Poole's to lose earlier in the season, and his ankle kept him from retaining the role. Once Poole is back to 100 percent, the tide may turn in New Orleans' backcourt.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Listed available Friday

Poole (ankle) is available for Friday's game against the Suns. As expected, Poole is shedding a probable designation with left ankle soreness after missing Tuesday's loss to the Cavaliers. He's come off the bench in six consecutive games, during which the combo guard has averaged 16.6 points, 3.2 assists, 1.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals in 27.3 minutes per contest.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Questionable to play Friday

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Won't play Tuesday

Poole is out for Tuesday's game against the Cavaliers with left ankle soreness. Poole will set his sights toward Friday's game against the Suns. With Dejounte Murray (Achilles) still on the shelf, Jeremiah Fears and Jose Alvarado will continue to hold down the fort at point guard.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Iffy for Tuesday

Poole is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Cavaliers with left ankle soreness. Tuesday's game is the second leg of a back-to-back set, and Poole could be held out as a precaution. During Monday's win over Dallas, Poole had 14 points, two rebounds and one assist in 27 minutes. If he can't play Tuesday, Jose Alvarado could see more playing time for the Pelicans.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Struggles with three-point shot

Poole notched 16 points (4-10 FG, 1-7 3Pt, 7-9 FT), two rebounds, six assists and one block over 32 minutes during Saturday's 128-109 victory over the Pacers. On the surface, Poole had a solid performance in 32 minutes. However, the fact that he went 1-for-7 from three-point range limited his fantasy upside. Poole is a proven scorer at the NBA level, but he's likely to continue coming off the bench for the foreseeable future. Poole has scored at least 15 points off the bench in his four outings since his return from injury on Dec. 11.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Continues to come off bench

Poole had 15 points (5-13 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), one rebound, two assists and three steals over 25 minutes during Thursday's 133-128 overtime win over the Rockets. The Pelicans appear to be content with Poole in a bench role for now, with the combo guard riding with the second unit in three straight games following an extended absence with a quadriceps strain. During this period, Poole has averaged 17.7 points, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals in 25.9 minutes per game and should continue to see his playing time rise as he becomes further removed from the injury.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Provides lift off bench in return

Poole (quadriceps) tallied 22 points (8-19 FG, 3-11 3Pt, 3-3 FT), three assists, one rebound and one steal across 26 minutes in Thursday's 143-120 win over the Trail Blazers. Back in action after missing the Pelicans' previous 18 games due to a left quadriceps strain, Poole wasn't shy about putting up shots in his return, as his 30.6 percent usage rate paced all New Orleans rotation players. A more efficient showing from three-point range could have made Poole's stat line even more appealing, but he was still a plus-18 during his time on the court. Poole had opened the season on the top unit, but he moved to the bench shortly before injuring his quad and appears likely to serve as New Orleans' sixth man now that he's healthy again while the Pelicans remain committed to giving rookie first-round pick Jeremiah Fears an extended look as their starting point guard. Poole should still see enough minutes and usage to remain worthy of holding in most leagues, though he may eventually have to sacrifice some touches once the likes of Dejounte Murray (Achilles) and Zion Williamson (adductor) return a few weeks down the road.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: Will go Thursday

Poole (quadriceps) is available for Thursday's game against the Trail Blazers, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.com reports. Poole will play for the first time since Nov. 4 after putting a left quad strain behind him. He figures to be on some type of minutes restriction Thursday as the team eases him back into game action, though it's unclear as to what that limit might look like.

  • Pelicans' Jordan Poole: To practice Wednesday

Poole (quadriceps) is scheduled to go through a full practice Wednesday, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports. Coach James Borrego said Poole was a limited participant at Tuesday's practice, and if he responds well in the morning, he could ramp up to being a full participant Wednesday. For now, a return against the Trail Blazers on Thursday hasn't been taken off the table.
