The Broncos selected Kelly in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL Draft, 253rd overall.

Kelly is the most talented player to be selected with the last pick of the draft in recent memory. Entering the season, Kelly had the look of a potential top-five quarterback in this class. However, knee and wrist injuries coupled with character concerns sent his stock plummeting. Kelly's 2015 season at Mississippi gives a glimpse of his upside as he threw for 4,042 yards and 31 touchdowns while adding 10 more scores on the ground. Denver is an interesting landing spot for Kelly, but he's already arguably the most talented quarterback on that roster. If Kelly makes a full recovery from his knee injuries and rights the ship off the field, he should make the 53-man roster and compete for at least the backup job down the line.
