Week 3 Rankings: Standard | PPR

So you're fully committed to DST streaming, huh? Good for you.

It represents one thing many Fantasy owners don't want to do -- take chances.

It's much easier on the soul to settle on an above average defense and ride them through the peaks and valleys. If you aren't making a decision then you aren't making the wrong decision.

I commend you for taking chances and attempting to control your own destiny.

Each week I'll give you a few defenses that are available in a majority of standard leagues, followed by one deep league option and one shallow league option. All in all, you get five choices -- choose wisely.

New York Giants vs. Washington Redskins

I'm going to assume the Giants are only on the waiver wire because everyone dropped them before their Week 2 matchup against the Saints. That made sense at the time but this unit fared well and now looks like a defense you might pick up and start more often than not, especially in this division.

Through two games it sure looks like Kirk Cousins has turned back into a pumpkin. He has three interceptions and just one touchdown and this may be the stiffest test he's faced yet. I like the Giants to turn Cousins over a couple of times and finish as a top-10 defense in Week 3.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Los Angeles Rams

Case Keenum is the Rams quarterback. They have scored nine (!) points in eight quarters of action this season. They are traveling across the country after an emotional win against the Seahawks. Do you need more? This is a textbook streaming defense play that needs no further explanation.

Miami Dolphins vs. Cleveland Browns

Yes, I saw the Dolphins game in Week 2. I also saw them in Week 1. This looks to me like a mediocre defense that could have a lot of success against a rookie quarterback making his first start. The Browns offense has enough talent to be intriguing in Fantasy but just enough question marks to make them feast-worthy for opposing defenses.

I expect the Dolphins to get after Cody Kessler with an aggressive pass rush and I expect Kessler to make his share of mistakes. Miami isn't a place you generally think of as a difficult place to play but with the Dolphins unveiling their renovated stadium there should be a rabid crowd ready to pounce on the rookie quarterback.

Deep Leagues

Washington Redskins @ New York Giants

The Giants are throwing the ball a lot. The Redskins have two elite cornerbacks. Like the Chargers last week, this is a boom or bust play that is predicated more on the likelihood of turnovers than a good all-around effort.

The addition of Josh Norman made this defense better, but maybe more importantly for Fantasy it meant that opposing teams would have to throw at Bashaud Breeland. Breeland will take his lumps against elite wide receivers but he'll also make some huge plays. If you're in a deep league, one of those big plays could make Washington the top streaming play in Week 3.

Shallow Leagues

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Denver Broncos

The Bengals are a good defense that could be great once they're at 100 percent. For the time being they're still a very good option at home against a quarterback of Trevor Siemian's ilk. This team has been solid in two straight games and the only real concern I have about them busting is if Andy Dalton throws a pick-six or gives the Broncos multiple short fields. This offense is not marching 80 yards against the Bengals defense on a regular basis.
