Vikings' Adrian Peterson: Held to two yards per carry against Seattle

Peterson rushed for 45 yards on 23 carries and added 13 receiving yards on two catches in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks. He lost a fumble during the game.

Stymied for much of the game, Peterson lost a critical fumble in the fourth quarter that set Seattle up to take the lead. Later, on Minnesota's second-to-last drive of the game, it was Jerick McKinnon, not Peterson, on the field trying to help lead the comeback. Fumbles come with the territory for Peterson, who led the league in the unfortunate stat this year and has fumbled at least thrice in six of his eight full seasons. What doesn't normally come with the territory is a lack of production, and that's what Peterson began to show toward the end of the season. In five of his last six games of the year, including Sunday, Peterson was held to 3.5 yards per carry or less - the lone exception being a matchup against the hapless Giants defense. Peterson still managed to score three touchdowns during those games, but given that he'll be 31 next season, Peterson may be showing signs of fatigue that could result in a less dominant share of carries in 2016.
