Nilsson entered Monday night's loss to the Flames after starter Jake Allen had allowed four goals in 17 shots. The 25-year-old Swede fared slightly better, giving up two goals in 14 shots while getting tagged with the loss.
This was his first game action since being acquired by the Blues, who were seeking an experienced NHL hand following a lower-body injury to Brian Elliott. Elliott has been on the ice recently, signalling a return is near, an event that will drop Nilsson from the roster. We suspect Allen will be back as the starter when the Blues resume their western swing Wednesday night in Edmonton.
